Innovation Strategy Review
A decade implementing Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s Global Innovation Framework across its 400 largest global accounts gave me deep, practical insight into how the strongest innovation strategies deliver real transformation. From clear direction on what role innovation will play supporting the organisations goals through to communications and measurable outcomes, I will share what I have learned over the years on what makes strong innovation strategies deliver real value.
Governance Review
Reviews start with an initial consultation on your aims. Reviews typically include innovation’s role in strategy, organisational alignment, clarity of message, speed to strongest decisions, selecting the ideas most likely to deliver, measurability of outcomes, accountability, continuous assessment and improvement, and embedding a culture of informed-innovation across the whole organisation, to name a few key areas. We can discuss the strongest practices I have worked with across hundreds of innovation strategies. All reviews and outcomes will be guided by your objectives.
Selection Process Improvement
Selecting the ideas with the highest probability of success is one of our most important tasks and yet it remains one of our toughest challenges. Prioritising so that the strongest bets get our investment, and so that the weaker ideas do not cost too much time, is a process deserved of continuous improvement. From a culture of informed-innovation to strategically aligned ideation through to early, well-targeted client engagement and financial commitment, and fast decision making, there are many tiers to strongest idea selection. This has been a focus of mine for many years and one I will happily discuss from our initial consultation onwards.
Delivery
Fast delivery and continuous validation of decisions made, feeding back into the improvement process are key to excellent selection and successful transformation.
I have lead successful national and international transformation programmes, award-winning implementations in the public sector, and high-pressure turnarounds such as the recovery of a critical $250 million European transformation programme. These experiences have influenced my approach to innovation delivery. Creativity is essential, but successful innovation also depends on clear strategic direction, clarity on innovation’s role, trained selection, and confidence that delivery capability, speed, and risk are being handled realistically from the outset.
